Overview
The SmartestEnergy US Marketing Lead is responsible for shaping, delivering and evolving the marketing strategy and campaigns for the US business, ensuring alignment with both local sales objectives and the broader global brand development. This role exists to drive brand reputation, market differentiation and business growth through the creation and execution of effective marketing initiatives, content and campaigns tailored to the US energy market.
The Marketing Lead oversees the development and delivery of the Annual Marketing Plan, maximising the use of digital marketing channels and managing regular content outputs, and ensures that marketing activities are executed in accordance with company objectives and brand guidelines.
By collaborating closely with sales and trading teams, subject matter experts and global marketing colleagues, the Marketing Lead ensures that all marketing outputs support business priorities, engage key customer groups, and contribute to the achievement of departmental KPIs.
Additionally, the role is pivotal in managing third-party relationships and reporting on content and campaign metrics. The Marketing Lead plays a key role maintaining a consistent, innovative and impactful brand presence in across the US markets.
In this role, you will be involved with the following:
Develop and execute the Annual Marketing Plan and budget for the US business, ensuring that the Retail sales, Trading, and Origination teams goals and targets are supported.
Engage regularly with customer-facing teams and subject matter experts (SMEs) to recommend new marketing ideas and initiatives and support with ad-hoc marketing requests.
Lead on delivering the annual customer net promotor score (NPS) survey with a focus on broker channel feedback, plus industry and competitor insights gathering and dissemination.
Lead on go-to-market campaigns for new products and new market entry, in alignment with the business strategy.
Develop and manage a pipeline of marketing content and thought leadership opportunities across digital, media, events, podcasts and webinars, collaborating with internal subject matter experts to deliver assets that help build brand awareness, engagement and lead generation.
Develop and maintain SharePoint content libraries, creating corporate overview packs, pitch decks and product literature to support C-Suite, Sales, HR, Trading and Origination.
Manage PR and media opportunities, working with agency partners, customers and stakeholders to establish talk-tracks across key industry topics for spokespeople or subject matter experts (SMEs).
Deliver press releases and opinion pieces to maximise press coverage, speaking engagements, case studies, interviews and other content opportunities.
Manage communications for M&A, as needed, from planning, messaging, content creation and stakeholder management, through to delivering post-merger integration plans.
Deliver the weekly e-newsletter, creating content, working with email templates and managing distribution lists, consulting with the Sales Enablement Manager to ensure the key regulatory and market updates are included.
Working with the Digital Marketing Team, maintain and upkeep our US website and social media channels, delivering related B2B digital marketing content to grow our followers and engagement metrics; running ad campaigns when relevant.
Manage all company events (in-person and virtual), from logistics, merchandising and booth design, to messaging, positioning and content requirements to deliver brand awareness and lead generation.
Leverage our existing partnership with The Energy Professionals Association (TEPA) and manage SmartestEnergy’s attendance at their events and conferences - building relationships with key contacts, progressing content opportunities and engaging existing / new broker contacts through speaking and content opportunities.
Contribute to the creation and delivery of corporate reports, including the global annual report and sustainability report, leading on copy writing, reviews and feedback and final approvals from local stakeholders.
Collaborate with the Global Senior Marketing Manager to develop brand messaging in alignment with the wider Group, ensuring the narrative and value proposition continue to resonate with the US market.
Activate our global sustainability and DEI strategies and communications, following governance and compliance requirements to avoid greenwashing or green hushing.
To be successful in this role, you are likely to have the following skills/experience:
Experience in copywriting for complex sectors like finance or energy, including blogs, newsletters, reports, and marketing materials
Design skills (Canva, Photoshop, InDesign)
Project management (running of campaigns, marketing projects)
Use of website content management systems (CMS)
Use of customer relationship management (CRM) and marketing automation tools
5+ years experience in a marketing role
Energy industry experience (preferred but not essential)
Strategic planning and budgeting
B2B marketing techniques and best practice
Digital marketing, SEO, and lead generation
Campaign planning and execution
Event planning and delivery
Demonstrated ability to assimilate a wide variety of data and sources
Creative and innovative approach to projects and tasks
Conscientious and systematic in managing multiple workstreams and adapting to changing priorities
Naturally inquisitive when engaging with stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail in content and scheduling.
Able to work independently and own projects end-to-end.
Note: This position can be based out of either our Houston, TX or Syracuse, NY office locations with in-office working expected at least 2 days per week.
The anticipated salary range for this position is between $85,000 - $110,000. Specific compensation dependent on the unique skills and experiences of the selected candidate.
