Overview
Reporting to Head of Strategic Partnerships and Sales, the Senior Channel Partner Manager (SCPM) is a senior-level sales and relationship leader responsible for driving commercial success through SEUS’s most strategic broker and client relationships. This role builds upon the foundation of the Channel Partner Manager (CPM) role and takes on deeper responsibilities in partner development, strategic deal structuring, market penetration planning, Sales team knowledge share and cross-functional coordination. The SCPM will serve as the point of contact for larger deals brought to SEUS while focusing on high-impact opportunities, long-term growth plans, and tailored market strategies. This role is also responsible for mentoring junior CPMs, ACPMs and supporting process and program development to scale SmartestEnergy’s market penetration effectively.

In addition to CPM Responsibilities, the SCPM will be responsible for the following:
Channel Partner Development on Large Deals
- Serve as the lead for SmartestEnergy’s most influential and highest-potential broker/customer relationships.
- Build long-term strategic plans with partners, including joint growth goals, marketing strategies, and product alignment.
- Conduct regularly planned meetings with key partners to review performance, pipeline, and opportunities.
Sales & Opportunity Management
- Lead or support the origination and negotiation of complex deals involving structured pricing, non-standard terms, or multi-site accounts.
- Serve as a liaison between brokers and internal teams (pricing, SS, operations) to resolve issues, accelerate close timelines, and maintain broker satisfaction.
- Provide market insights and partner feedback to support product innovation and competitive positioning.
Process & Program Enhancement
- Collaborate with VPofS, HofS, Sales Manager(s) and functional teams to enhance partner onboarding, pricing turnaround, and business workflows.
- Identify and implement improvements to transactional partner enablement, including self-service tools, automation, or documentation.
Market and Product Expansion & Intelligence
- Support expansion into new utilities or states by identifying critical broker relationships and coordinating pre-entry engagement within designated market.
- Stay informed on regulatory, pricing, and market developments that affect broker strategy and competitiveness.
- New Product ideation and support for implementation.
- Have strong existing market expertise with critical thinking capability around market component drivers.
- Engage in Broker calls, meetings, and industry conferences to relate knowledge and expertise in designated market.
Team Support & Leadership
- Mentor CPMs and ACPMs on sales strategy, partner engagement, and deal structuring.
- Contribute to the development of sales playbooks, training materials, and tools for the broader partner management team.
To be successful in this role, you are likely to have the following skills/experience:
- 7+ years of experience in the retail energy sector, with a strong understanding of broker channels and deregulated markets
- Demonstrated success managing large or complex broker accounts or customer portfolios through sophisticated products and in-depth market knowledge
- Strong commercial acumen and deal negotiation skills
- Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams (pricing, wholesale, operations, customer service)
- High level of communication and relationship-building ability
- Experience mentoring or leading others is a plus
- Strategic and analytical thinker with a bias for action
- Customer- and partner-centric mindset
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Highly collaborative, with strong interpersonal and influencing skills
- Committed to continuous improvement and team development
