Overview
The principal role of the Origination Analyst is to support the valuation needs of the Origination function. It is crucial in the role to recognize the time sensitive nature of the requests, respond swiftly to meet tight deadlines, and complete work accurately.
The Origination Analyst is responsible for valuing mid-market and structured wholesale transactions, building complex models, analyzing the evolving market, transaction management, and data management.
In this role, you will be involved with the following:
- Provide transaction pricing to Originators.
- Develop and maintain complex models to support transaction valuation, risk management, and asset optimization.
- Transactions include tolling agreements, renewable resource offtakes, and BESS.
- Collaborate with Originators in designing deal structures that maximize gross margin given firm’s risk tolerance.
- Perform studies and analysis in support of Commercial activity.
- Keep abreast of ISO, regulatory, and market changes.
- Manage large market data sets.
- Time management and the prioritization of competing work demands.
To be successful in this role, you are likely to have the following skills/experience:
- At least 5+ years in the U.S. electricity and natural gas industry as a quantitative analyst structurer, risk analyst, or similar role.
- Degree in Quantitative Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or related quantitative field.
- Possess a solid understanding of mathematical finance including stochastic calculus and probability theory, plus associated numerical methods for their practical implementation.
- Proficient in MS Excel.
- Programming capability in R (preferred), Python, or similar language
- Databases and SQL.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to influence and build relationships as a participant in a team environment.
- Work under general supervision, is self-motivated, and proactive.
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels.
