Enterprise Solution Architect
You will be accountable for designing solutions that are fit for purpose and in line with the architecture blueprint for the business as well as helping to lead the Enterprise Architecture for the business as a whole.
As an outcome-oriented professional you can engage effectively with business and technical staff and create enduring solutions that cover applications, technologies, processes, security, information, shared infrastructure services and shared application services.
What skills/experience do I need to be successful?
- Substantial experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management, information security or operations;
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience;
- Has performed an Architecture role in a complex enterprise environment;
- Good understanding of strategic and new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models;
- Understanding of agile methods and processes, and capability of supporting agile project teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact and risks, taking account of technical and architectural debt.
How will I spend my time in this role?
- Lead the implementation of solutions architectures across a group of specific business applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, architecture principles, business capabilities and business requirements;
- Understand the business (its drivers and capabilities) and determine corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes;
- Provide architectural ownership in Project and Programme contexts ensuring initiative is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture;
- Contribute to and help to embed the overall enterprise architecture approach, strategic technologies and architecture standards;
- Act as ambassador for the architecture function and communicate the content and implications of architecture and designs;
- Monitor the solution portfolio to identify risks and opportunities of technology obsolescence or misalignment with business requirements;
- Understand technology trends and the practical application of emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models;
- Analyse the technology industry, competitors and market trends, and determine their potential impact on the enterprise;
- Assist in defining and enforcing the principles, guidelines, standards and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision;
- Effectively liaise with key stakeholders to embed architectural thinking all areas.
- Participate in the governance activities associated with ensuring solutions architecture assurance and compliance;
- Develop a roadmap for the evolution of the enterprise application portfolio from current to future state;
- Facilitate the evaluation and selection of software product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations;
- Identify the organisational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures or culture) and financial impact of the solutions architecture;
- Document all solution architecture design and analysis work as well as enterprise architecture artefacts;
- Work closely with the Head of Architecture, CTO and project management office (PMO) ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised;
- Manage the data in the Enterprise Architecture Repository driving decision-grade insights from the data contained and also driving more of its adoption among IT and the Business.
