Infrastructure Manager
You will play a pivotal role supporting the successful scaling of our organisation. Responsible for driving strategy, creating, and maintaining roadmaps, and line management of the global infrastructure department.
You will act as the principal business partner to the VP IT USA, HO IT Trading, HO IT C&I and Generation, HO IT Corporate, HO IT AUS, and HO IT SEBL. The position will work closely with the Service Delivery team to resolve major incidents and help deliver a robust service model.
What skills/experience do I need to be successful?
- Solid experience of Infrastructure management and technology;
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience;
- Previous experience of administering global infrastructure with high availability;
- Experience in engaging with and influencing SLT;
- Knowledge of agile manifesto, and DevOps best practice (e.g., Scrum, CI/CD);
- Knowledge of ISO 27001.
How will I spend my time in this role?
- Leading, growing, developing, and operating a high-performance global infrastructure organisation that comprises of systems and reliability, applications, network, databases, hardware and datacentres, and DevOps;
- Developing and driving long-term strategy for our production and development of infrastructure engineering, architecture, and operations, delivering high-performance, security, reliability, and usability;
- Identifying and managing appropriate third-party vendors (both hardware and professional services) who work in partnership to support the infrastructure team and wider organisation;
- Assessing and developing optimal levels of automation, standardisation, and monitoring, so that the performance of our systems is maximised enabling an SLA uptime of 99.7%;
- Ensuring a robust Disaster Recovery strategy for all critical systems and infrastructure;
- Ensuring that production services critical to our systems are designed, deployed, and maintained with security and reliability at the forefront;
- Managing budget for our IT infrastructure, with a solid sense of balance for efficiency and focus;
- Fostering a strong culture of operational health, standard methodologies, detail orientation, and innovation;
- Ensure skills are regularly updated to leverage technologies and methodologies that can deliver a competitive advantage to the business;
- Working with HO IT Ops to plan and execute a multi-year plan to establish and maintain a services infrastructure that can support SmartestEnergy’s strategy, and its fast-paced growth, while operating at a high level of efficiency;
- Consulting with stakeholders Globally to ensure the alignment and prioritisation of resources in line with business priorities;
- Actively contribute to the global IT & Change leadership team as a core member.
- Coach, mentor, and develop staff to assist them in being the best IT professional that they can be;
- Be a trusted advisor and business partner for infrastructure working closely with IT HO and VP’s globally to translate their business needs into a fit for purpose technology-enabled delivery plan;
- Undertake IT demand management for the infrastructure globally, and act as principal manager for the portfolio of change;
- Ensure a cost effective and sustainable support model is in place for the infrastructure, and performance against agreed service level agreements is measured and reported;
- Act as the principal domain expert for Infrastructure and keep track of latest industry developments and innovations;
- Work collaboratively with the SLT within IT.
